Chronic Pelvic Pain
(Chronic Prostatitis, Pudendal Neuralgia, Levator Ani Syndrome)
Persistent pelvic or perineal pain can be frustrating, distressing, and complex. Often driven by muscle tension, nerve irritation, or poor pelvic coordination, these conditions are highly treatable with the right approach.
Treatment for Chronic Pelvic Pain
At our specialist men’s health clinics, we offer a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to the assessment and treatment of Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CPPS), including conditions such as prostatitis, pudendal neuralgia, and levator ani syndrome.
We understand that chronic pelvic pain is complex and can affect multiple systems—including muscular, neural, and psychological—so our treatment is always individualised and holistic.
Shockwave Therapy
In certain cases, particularly with stubborn myofascial trigger points or chronic pain syndromes, Focused Shockwave Therapy is used to promote tissue healing, reduce pain, and improve muscle function. This non-invasive treatment has been shown to improve outcomes when used alongside hands-on therapy and exercise.
Myofascial Release
Targeted hands-on techniques are used to release tight, painful trigger points and muscle restrictions in the pelvic floor, abdominal wall, hips, glutes, and lower back. This helps reduce muscular tension and improve blood flow and mobility.
Nerve Desensitisation
For clients with nerve-related pain (e.g. pudendal neuralgia), we use manual therapy, neural mobilisation, and positioning strategies to reduce irritation and sensitivity in affected nerves. This helps restore normal movement and function.
Pelvic Floor Retraining
Dysfunction in the pelvic floor—either overactivity or weakness—is common in men with chronic pelvic pain. We assess your muscle function and guide you through retraining exercises tailored to your specific presentation, whether the focus is on relaxation, control, or strengthening.
Pain Neuroscience Education
Understanding how pain works in the body is key to recovery. We provide education tailored to your symptoms to help reduce fear, improve confidence, and give you practical tools to manage pain effectively.
